The Cromwell Las Vegas

Overview
The Cromwell Las Vegas is among the two "newest" casino-hotels in the Caesars Las Vegas portfolio.  You may have known it previously as Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon or, before that, the Barbary Coast Hotel and Casino.

Originally the completely renovated hotel and casino was supposed to be known as The Gansevoort Las Vegas.

[The other "new" hotel is the renovated Imperial Palace, now known as The LINQ Hotel & Casino, but it debuted as The Quad.]

Parking
Finding the entrance for parking
both valet and self can be a bit challenging.  If you're heading up Flamingo Road from Las Vegas Boulevard ("The Strip"), turn left just before the first traffic light.  (If you get to LINQ Lane, you've gone too far.)  From the other direction, turn right, immediately after LINQ Lane.

Hotel Overview
According to the hotel's Web site, "a bold, sophisticated experience awaits at the Strip’s first boutique hotel.  Each of the 188 rooms is Parisian-inspired, with hardwood floors, glamorous décor and a design that mixes modern and vintage. Subtle, decadent nuances make all the difference at this luxurious property.  Custom concierge-style service highlights amenities such as custom-stocked minibars and coffee and tea service available."

Participates in the PetStay program.
That said, according to those who have stayed there:
  • the rooms are small, dark and with no place to work or relax.
  • rooms have showers, but no tubs.
  • if you're a light sleeper, you may want to consider another property.  Between the noise from Flamingo Road and Drai's Beach Club/Nightclub on the roof, it's tough to find a quiet room -- despite being told there are "quiet floors."
Each floor offers complimentary service that dispenses lattes, cappuccino, espresso, in addition to coffee and hot water for tea.  There is a fitness center located behind the front desk which is open 24 hours.

Fridays and Saturdays between 5 and 6 p.m. hotel guests are invited to join the general manager at Bound by Salvatore for Moet and Chandon champagne.

The Cromwell features eKey. This advanced mobile technology allows guests to enter to their hotel room through their iPhones. All 188 rooms are enabled for this electronic key in lieu of a traditional hotel key. Simply download the app and register for an eKey prior to arrival. Guests who opt to use eKey will receive a link to download The Cromwell App from the Apple Store and an access code tied to their iOS device and reservation. Once the app is downloaded and a personal identification number is created, guests can access their room by placing their iOS device next to the lock. If you have multiple rooms associated with your account, a screen will prompt you to select which to open.

Casino Overview

Insider Tip

The Cromwell's Total Rewards Center is located inside the main cashier and is open 24 hours. If you've played at multiple properties during one gaming day, the Cromwell's Total Reward Center will total your earned daily tier credits and Reward Credits.
The casino is relatively small, but beautifully appointed with dark paneled walls and red and gold accents.  You'll find all the usual slot machines and table games, including a private gaming area called The Abbey.  In addition, there is a High Limit Room with three tables and some additional slot machines.

There is a large bar, Interlude, which has electronic table games on the casino side and a quiet lounge on the other.  The casino's other bar, Bound, is located between hotel check-in and Curios gift shop.  It could end at any time, but for now, between 4 and 7 p.m. daily, show your Seven Stars card for a complimentary cocktail.

Dining

The Cromwell is probably best known as the home of Giada on the second floor.  Giada De Laurentiis is the first female celebrity chef to open a restaurant on The Strip, and the restaurant lives up to all the hype.

Plan well in advance if you want to dine there.  The most coveted tables are those beside the expansive windows looking over the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo.  Depending on where you're seated, your view will include the fountains at Bellagio or Caesars Palace.

Giada is open for breakfast, lunch, Sunday brunch and dinner, and the lounge is open daily from 4:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Giada also provides "in-room dining" (room service) 24 hours a day, though selections are limited during certain hours.  Consult the menu in your room or check the Cromwell website.

Nightlife

The Cromwell's second most famous "attraction" is Drai's Beach Club/Nightclub, open Thursday through Sunday from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.  The 65,000 square-foot space offers both an indoor and outdoor rooftop experience.  Drai's After Hours in the basement at The Cromwell opens at 1 a.m. Thursday through Sunday, and remains open until 10.

Special Seven Stars Benefits
T
here are no property-specific benefits, but click here for a list of benefits which are available at all Las Vegas Total Rewards casinos.

Seven Stars Lounge

There is neither a Seven Stars nor a Diamond Lounge; the nearest Diamond Lounge is at Flamingo.

Should You Choose This For Your Annual Retreat?
Las Vegas remains the gaming mecca in the United States, and is probably the most popular destination for Seven Stars trips.  With eight other Caesars properties in town (Bally's, Caesars Palace, Flamingo, Harrah's, The LINQ, Rio, Planet Hollywood and Paris), dozens of restaurants, nightclubs, golf, showrooms, the Forum Shops at Caesars (and other shops located inside Caesars properties), spa treatments, and relaxing by the pool (weather permitting), it would be easy to spend four nights (and $500) here – especially since you can "cross charge" to your room any meals, spa treatments, etc., even if they take place at another Caesars property in Las Vegas.  For those without other transportation, complimentary shuttles for Total Rewards® members run regularly among several of the Caesars-owned casinos.

When you check-in, be sure to verify that your $500 comp account has been set-up. Alcohol charged to the room counts toward your $500 in expenses, but not gratuities for meals and spa treatments.  Best advice is to keep all your receipts until you settle your final bill.
