Horseshoe Casino Tunica

The nearest major airport is Memphis, about a 45-minute drive. More limited connecting air service via Vision Airlines is available directly into Tunica. (Charter flights on Allegiant also fly into Tunica.)
Horseshoe has 70 table games, approximately 1,700 slot machines and a poker room. The casino is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Only the poker room and buffet are non-smoking areas.
The casino is equipped with Caesars proprietary Total Touch system that allows customers to order drinks, redeem free play, check their Total Rewards account balances, and receive real-time offers based on play.
"Easy Pay" tickets issued by the slot machines are valid only for 60 days, so be sure to cash them in before you leave town.
Dining options include the Village Square Buffet, JB's Cafe, Jack Binion's Steak, 8 oz. Burger Bar, Lucky 8 Asian Bistro and a Starbucks. Note that, while Reward Credits (comp dollars) are accepted at each of these outlets, redemption at 8 oz. and Starbucks is 2:1, i.e., it takes $2 in comps (200 Reward Credits) for each $1 purchase. In others words, a $2 cup of coffee will cost $4 in comps. (There is a small sign to indicate this at 8 oz., but not at Starbucks.)
Guests who are paying cash or are members of MGM Resorts International's M life Rewards players card program should consider using the restaurants next door at Gold Strike. The Atrium serves breakfast 24 hours, and the Atrium Big Breakfast (two pancakes, three eggs, bacon or sausage, grits or hash browns, biscuits or toast) is a bargain at $12; it's easily enough food for two people. At lunch, a huge bowl of chicken noodle soup is $6 (see photo). (Prices are subject to change.)
NOTE: If you are a registered guest at Horseshoe, you can charge meals and other services at Tunica Roadhouse.
The hotel has 500 rooms, 311 on floors four through 15 are advertised as "suites"; however, most are not suites in the traditional sense. These "Tower Suites" are a bit larger than average-sized rooms. Also referred to by the front desk staff as "premium" rooms, there is a small flat-screen television in the bathroom. Rooms with king-size beds have two additional TVs; rooms with two queen beds have one. All have safes, coffeemakers and refrigerators; bathrooms have single sinks with a combination tub and shower. Toiletries are Horseshoe's house brand. "Deluxe" rooms on floors two and three are smaller and have dark wood furniture, and a flat screen television. When it's open, check-in at VIP Services; otherwise there is a dedicated line at the front desk, but Seven Stars cardholders share this with Diamond cardholders. Coffee and cookies are generally available in VIP Services, whether it's open for check-in or not. In addition to meeting rooms on the second floor, there also is an outdoor pool and a fitness center -- complimentary to all registered hotel guests. To book an appointment at The Spa at Horseshoe Tunica, call (662) 357-4032.
Special Seven Stars Benefits*
There is a dedicated line at check-in (which is shared with Diamond cardholders) and the buffet, and there is a section of 18 spaces on the first floor of the self-parking lot reserved for Seven Stars cardholders. However, this is on the honor system and no one monitors these.
The buffet also has a dedicated section for Seven Stars cardholders. Unlike the rest of the buffet, tables in this section have fresh flowers, white tablecloths and white cloth napkins. It's also worth asking at the Casino Host desk for complimentary buffet passes and, before checking out, ask a host to review your charges. These may end up being comped rather than using your Total Rewards credits.
If you're staying in the hotel, in the evening you'll get two pieces of wrapped chocolate squares with the Seven Stars logo.
Seven Stars Lounge
There is no Seven Stars Lounge. A Diamond Lounge has a small eight-seat bar in one of two large rooms; the other room has a large gas fireplace. There are several flat-screen televisions mounted on the walls, but sound either is turned to very low or not on at all. Smoking is allowed in the club, but patrons are asked not to smoke pipes or cigars. Food options generally include a cold salad (chicken, shrimp, etc.), plus cheese and crackers, assorted dry snacks, and cookies and candy. The lounge is open Monday through Thursday from 2 to 10 p.m., Fridays from noon to midnight, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays the lounge offers a continental breakfast (fresh fruit, pastries and muffins, etc.). Cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages are complimentary (and may be taken out to the casino from the lounge), and there is no limit to the number of visits a guest may make in one day.
Should You Choose This For Your Annual Retreat?
With seven casinos (two owned by Caesars), two hotels (pretty much everyone recommends staying at the Horseshoe), a high-end gourmet restaurant (Jack Binion's Steak House at Horseshoe), a buffet, and many other casual dining options to choose from, Tunica is certainly an option. You may feel a bit isolated without a car. Rental cars are not available at Horseshoe, so be sure to rent at the airport if you think you'll want a car.
