Formerly Grand Casino Tunica, Harrah's Tunica is a sprawling campus that includes a 140,000-sq. ft. casino and three hotels with a total of 1,356 rooms.  There also is an RV park, the Bellissimo Spa & Salon, a convention center, the Willows Sporting Clays and Hunting Center, the Links at Cottonwood Golf Course, and Harrah's Event Center.

The nearest major airport is Memphis, about a 45-minute drive.  More limited connecting air service via Vision Airlines is available directly into Tunica.  (Charter flights on Allegiant also fly into Tunica.)

About a 10-minute drive from Harrah's are two other Caesars-owned casino-hotels, the Tunica Roadhouse and Horseshoe Tunica  (which are adjacent to each other).  [There also is a Bally's Casino Hotel, but, unlike the Bally's in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, this one is not owned by Caesars.]  A complimentary shuttle service transports players and guests between the Horseshoe/Roadhouse and Harrah's.  The shuttle runs every 30 minutes Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. (last pick-up from Horseshoe at 10:45 p.m.), and from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays (last pick-up from Horseshoe at 2:45 a.m.).  The shuttle leaves Harrah's every :00 and :30 of the hour; from Horseshoe every :15 and :45.  For related information about Horseshoe Tunica, click here; for information about Roadhouse Tunica, click here.

There is no indoor parking garage, but all guests may use complimentary valet service.

Casino Overview

The largest casino between Las Vegas and Atlantic City, Harrah's has 60 table games, more than 2,000 slot machines and one of the largest poker rooms in the South.  The casino is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.  There are no non-smoking areas.

The casino is equipped with Caesars proprietary Total Touch system that allows customers to order drinks, redeem free play, check their Total Rewards account balances, and receive real-time offers based on play.

"Easy Pay" tickets issued by the slot machines are valid only for 60 days, so be sure to cash them in before you leave town.

Dining options include '37 Steakhouse, a buffet, Fuddruckers, Quiznos Express, Uno Express and Dunkin' Donuts.  Note that, while Rewards Credits (comp dollars) are accepted at each of these outlets, redemption at Fuddruckers, Quiznos, Uno and Dunkin' Donuts is 2:1, i.e., it takes $2 in comps (200 Rewards Credits) for each $1 purchase.  In others words, a $2 cup of coffee will cost $4 in comps.  All three hotels also offer room service; the Terrace and Veranda Towers offer a snack bar -- Java Grande -- in the lobby.

There also is a Funny Bone Comedy Club on the second level near the buffet.

NOTE: If you are a registered guest at Harrah's, you can charge meals and other services from the Horseshoe or Tunica Roadhouse.

Hotel Overview

There are three hotels.  The Casino Tower was constructed in 1997 and contains 148 rooms and 40 suites. The Veranda Tower, with 532 rooms and 36 suites, opened in 1999. The largest hotel, Terrace Tower, was completed in 2001, and contains 563 rooms and 37 suites.

Rooms in the Casino Tower are average-sized with dark furniture.  All have safes, coffeemakers and refrigerators; many of the rooms have microwaves.  The televisions are older models, i.e., no flat screens.  Bathrooms have single sinks with a combination tub and shower.  Toiletries are Harrah's house brand.

The Veranda and Terrace Towers are not connected to the casino, but located approximately a half-mile away. Complimentary shuttle service, which runs 24 hours a day, takes Veranda and Terrace guests to and from the casino. (If the weather is nice, there are walkways from the Terrance and Veranda Towers to the casino.)  The Casino Tower is located adjacent to the casino. There is a covered walkway between the two. Shuttles also run to the RV Park.

Among the three hotels there is one indoor pool, three outdoor pools and a tennis court.

Special Seven Stars Benefits

There is a dedicated line at Total Rewards and the buffet (which is shared with Diamond cardholders), as well as a special card-controlled parking area in front of the hotel, to the right of the casino as you're driving in.  It won't do you much good on your initial visit because you first must visit the VIP Concierge off the main casino floor next to the Sphere Bar and obtain a specially-coded card.  You also can get boarding passes printed here.

Once each month (exclusive of certain "high demand" times), Seven Stars cardholders and a guest are entitled to a complimentary round of golf at The Links at Cottonwood.  An executive host must make arrangements for the golf outing. NOTE: This golf outing may be used only once per month in Tunica, and not once per month per Caesars property in Tunica.

Seven Stars Lounge

There is no Seven Stars Lounge.  A Diamond Lounge has a small eight-seat bar in a large room featuring a pool table, Wii, board games, and a large projection television (plus smaller wall-mounted TVs),  In addition there is a small separate "quiet room" in the rear which has computers for guests to check e-mail, surf the Web, etc.  but the entire lounge is wired for WiFi.  Smoking is allowed in the club, but patrons are asked not to smoke pipes or cigars.  Food options generally include a cold salad (chicken, shrimp, etc.), plus cheese and crackers, assorted dry snacks, and cookies and candy.  The lounge is open Monday through Thursday from 2 to 10 p.m., Fridays from noon to midnight, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.  On Saturdays and Sundays the lounge offers a continental breakfast (fresh fruit, pastries and muffins, etc.). Cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages are complimentary (and may be taken out to the casino from the lounge), and there is no limit to the number of visits a guest may make in one day.

Should You Choose Tunica For Your Annual Trip?

With eight casinos (three owned by Caesars), five hotels (pretty much everyone recommends staying at the Horseshoe), a 16,000 sq. ft. Bellissimo Spa and Salon, an 18-hole golf course and the Willows Sporting Clays and Hunting Center, as well as two high-end gourmet restaurants (Jack Binion's Steakhouses at Horseshoe and '37 at Harrah's), two buffets, and many other casual dining options to choose from, Tunica is certainly an option.  Even with the complimentary shuttle services between the casinos and among the hotels, you may feel a bit isolated without a car -- especially if you want to tour some of the nearby attractions such as Graceland.  Rental cars are not available at Harrah's, so be sure to rent at the airport if you think you'll want a car.
